Why Vegan?

“Becoming vegan is the most important and direct change we can immediately make to save the planet and its species.”

Chris Hedges

“Violence begins with the fork.”

Mohandas Gandhi

“There is no fundamental difference between man and animals in their ability to feel pleasure and pain, happiness, and misery.”

Charles Darwin

It’s really hard not to come off preachy when you strongly disagree with something as prevalent in society as the consumption of animal and animal bi-products. So I am going to contain my ethical vegan rants to this page, quite frankly so as not to turn people off the rest of the site- I hope to make the recipes and information available here accessible to everyone and to encourage people to make more conscious decisions.

I am vegan because I strongly believe it is the right thing to do for animals, the planet and our health. It just makes sense. Does road kill make you feel peckish? When you see a cow do you want to suck on it’s tits- hopefully not!? Otherwise maybe go and see someone? It is not optimal or logical to be eating animals or animal bi-products. It is not necessary or even good for your health; animal products are full of saturated fats, cholesterol, lactose, antibiotics and all sorts of other ‘nasties’ that our body would rather do without. We eat meat to be as strong as an ox without realizing the ox is eating plants.
One pound of meat uses the equivalent amount of water as 6 months worth of showers- that’s crazy! Hopefully this site shows you how tasty, easy and accessible a vegan lifestyle is to everyone no matter what age, budget, body goals or state of health. You can have your vegan cake and eat it too!
