Grawnola Bars

 100% raw, 100% whole foods- the perfect on the go breakfast or snack. I am loving raw buckwheat at the moment it has such an interesting nutty flavor without all the fat with the spelt flakes giving this bar a great crunch as well as some whole-grain goodness. Goji berries have been used in chinese medicine for centurys and are packed full if vitamin C, iron and selenium. Maca powder is a great hormone balancer and energy booster and the flax seeds add some all important plant sourced omega 3’s.

Ingredients 

(makes 6):

1 cup spelt flakes.

1 cup dates (soaked)

1/2 cup raw buckwheat

1/2 cup oats

1/4 cup ground flax seed

1/4 cup goji berries

2 tablespoons maca powder

 Method:

-Drain the dates to get rid of excess water then place in a food processor along with the flax-seeds and blend until a  smooth paste is formed.

-empty the paste into a mixing bowl and add the rest of the ingredients before stirring together making sure everything is combined.

-mould the mixture into 6 bars and place in the fridge to set for 2 hours.

These bars are a staple for me as they are perfect for when I’m on the go doing castings all day and need something to give me a bit of energy and goodness. The great thing about making you own bars is that you can so easily mix up the ingredients to suit your personal tastes (and its cheaper).
